Production:

Before engaging with B. Ellen Consulting, this independent craft brewery used a 1-barrel pilot system. With Barb’s engineering know-how and experience, they scaled to a 10-Barrel brewhouse. Equipment was purchased before B. Ellen Consulting was brought in, and this project is currently in progress.

Problem:

With equipment already procured, Atrevida required experienced support to manage the complexities of installing and integrating multiple systems within an existing facility. Key challenges included:

• Integrating new equipment into an existing building and utility infrastructure
• Coordinating installation activities across multiple vendors and trades
• Verifying utility capacity for increased production demands
• Avoiding installation errors that could impact safety, performance, or future expansion
• Maintaining quality standards during the transition to larger-scale production

Approach:

B. Ellen Consulting is providing hands-on support throughout the installation phase, acting as an owner’s representative and technical resource. Current scope of work include:

• Installation Oversight & Coordination
  • Review of brewhouse layout and equipment place
  • On-site coordination with installers, contractors, and vendors
  • Verification that installations align with manufacturer requirements and best practices
• Equipment Integration
  • Installation support for the 10 BBL brewhouse system
  • Integration of a roller mill into the grain handling workflow
  • Installation of a keg washer to support expanded draft operations
  • Custom pipe fittings & frames designed, built, and installed
• Utilities & Infrastructure Review
  • Evaluation of existing electrical, water, and glycol systems
  • Identification of gaps or constraints impacting equipment performance
  • Coordination of corrective actions as needed
• Commissioning & Startup Support
  • Pre-startup inspections and readiness reviews
  • Support during initial system commissioning
  • Troubleshooting and process optimization during early production runs

Solution:

By engaging B. Ellen Consulting after equipment procurement, Atrevida gained experienced oversight during a critical phase of the project. The ongoing support helps ensure that the new brewhouse is installed correctly, commissioned efficiently, and positioned for long-term operational success.

Expected Outcomes:

Upon completion, the brewery is expected to realize:

• More than 3× increase in monthly barrel production
• Improved system reliability through proper installation and integration
• Reduced operational risk during startup
• A production brewhouse positioned for future growth
